  报告人简介:Prof. Cochran is now with the School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, where he is pursuing his interests in medical ultrasound imaging and therapy. Particularly notable is the configuration of miniature devices to deploy microultrasound within the human body. One example is in the use of surgical needles in which ultrasonic sensors or imaging arrays are integrated and another is the potential of ultrasound to be used in capsule endoscopy (sonopill.dundee.ac.uk). He also maintains his interest in ultrasound-actuated surgical tools and ultrasound-mediated targeted drug delivery. Prof. Cochran is author of almost 100 peer-reviewed journal papers and more than 250 others, is named on 10 patents and is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Physics. He has been appointed as General Chair of the 2019 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium. 

  报告内容:In this talk, a range of possible uses of piezocrystal materials will be discussed, including acoustic tweezing, actuation of surgical tools, underwater SONAR and medical imaging. The material properties that are required for modelling will be outlined and some difficulties will be identified. Progress towards convenient characterization will then be presented, including measurement at elevated temperatures and under uniaxial pressure.
